Home Damage Connect

Editorial Standards

Every article on this site is written and maintained by the Home Damage Connect editorial team. This page explains how that content is produced, how often it is reviewed, and — just as importantly — what it deliberately does not claim.

Who writes this content

Articles are written by the Home Damage Connect editorial team, which researches and summarizes widely accepted, general guidance on water damage and mold. Our writers are not licensed restoration contractors, mold assessors, plumbers, or medical professionals, and we do not present them as such. Where an article is reviewed by a named subject-matter expert, that reviewer is credited by name on the article itself.

How we write it

  • Each article answers its main question in the opening paragraph rather than burying it.
  • We describe what is generally true across most situations, and say plainly when something varies by property, material, region, or circumstance.
  • We avoid absolute numbers presented as certainties. Where we give a general timeframe — such as mold developing within roughly 24 to 48 hours in favorable conditions — we state the conditions it depends on.
  • We write for homeowners, not for search engines, and we do not pad articles with repeated keywords.

How often we review it

Every article carries a published date and a last-reviewed date, both visible at the top of the page. We revisit articles periodically and update the last-reviewed date only when the content has actually been re-checked — not to manufacture a freshness signal. The most recent review across our library was June 1, 2026.

What our content does not do

Our articles are general educational information. They are not a substitute for an on-site professional assessment, and they do not provide:

  • Medical guidance or any diagnosis of health effects related to mold exposure
  • Identification of a specific type of mold from a description or photo
  • Insurance coverage determinations or claim advice
  • Legal advice
  • Engineering or structural assessments
  • Pricing, quotes, or cost estimates for any specific property

Our relationship to providers

Home Damage Connect is a connection service, not a contractor. Our editorial content is written independently of any provider, and no provider pays to be described favorably in an article. See our Provider Disclosure for how the connection service itself works.
